PTA Golden Acorn Awards
Call For Nominations

PTA is a volunteer-driven organization. One of the ways we recognize the outstanding work of our volunteers, is with the Golden Acorn award. The Golden Acorn Award is presented by a local PTA or council to a school or community volunteer in recognition of their dedication and service to children and youth. Since the beginning of this program in the 1930s, more than 54,000 Golden Acorn Awards have been presented to volunteers throughout Washington state.

Recipients receive a certificate and pin, and a contribution is made in their name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Program that benefits students.

Please submit your nominations for any individuals who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school community this year.

Talking with Kids About Ukraine

“What is happening in Ukraine can be frightening for both children and adults. Ignoring or avoiding the topic can lead to children feeling lost, alone and scared, which can affect their health and well-being. It is essential to have open and honest conversations with children to help them process what is happening.” ~Ane Lemche, Save the Children

National PTA offers a two-part series with suggestions for discussing the conflict in Ukraine with our children
