Seeking Volunteers for Next Year

The programs and events provided by Newport Heights PTA cannot happen without volunteers from our school community. While we are still determining what the 2021-2022 school year holds for volunteer opportunities and in-person events, we want to plan for every scenario.

If you would like to join our rock star team of volunteers, please contact us for more information. If we cannot be present at school for specific events, there will still be opportunities to help from home, so don't hold back on anything that interests you.

Golden Acorn Award Recipients

It is our distinct pleasure to announce the recipients of the 2020-2021 Golden Acorn Awards for outstanding volunteers at Newport Heights Elementary.

Debra Mailman
Debra was a volunteer across the second grade this year and donated over 300 hours of her time supporting children in small group and 1 on 1 learning situations. She set up technical resources for students as well as the OneNote math workbooks that enabled students to work virtually. In addition, she has donated headphones to students that needed them and provided technical support.

Becky Park
Becky was instrumental in putting together an amazing yearbook during this year of firsts. She gave over 200 hours of her time collecting, organizing, editing, and laying out each page. She meticulously reviewed all of the submitted pictures to make sure they were all included and categorized correctly. And she worked with our publisher and the school administration to get it all done and delivered on time. If not for her efforts we might not have had a yearbook at all this year.

Gloria Paulsen
Gloria has been a one-woman graduation committee this year. She has single-handedly run the effort to plan the 5th grade events this year. She has been overwhelmingly generous with both time and money this year, donating countless hours of her time and more than half of the funds needed for the events and gifts for the students. She also was able to get the printing company to donate additional blankets for teachers and staff. Gloria is the reason we had such a nice event for families and students.

These three volunteers have contributed so much, and we owe them all our thanks! Thank you Gloria, Becky, and Debra!

Finally, a hearty thank you to ALL of our wonderful volunteers. We are 100% volunteer led and volunteer powered, and we absolutely couldn't do it without you.
